Thinking about joining asenea? Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about working with us, the roles we offer, and how to get started.
About The Role
What does an SEN Support Worker do?
As an SEN Support Worker, your role is to provide care and assistance to students with special educational needs. Your responsibilities may include:
1-to-1 student support – Assisting individual students with learning, behaviour, or personal care.
Classroom assistance – Helping students stay engaged and supporting teachers where needed.
Personal care – Providing assistance with tasks such as dressing, feeding, or mobility (if required).
Breaktime & lunchtime supervision – Ensuring students are safe and supported throughout the school day.
Do You Have SEN Teaching Roles?
Yes! However, these roles require previous experience as a SEN teacher/teaching assistant.
What Is Agency Work
Agency work allows you to take on flexible, temporary roles without being tied to a permanent contract. Instead of working directly for one school, you’ll be placed in various SEN schools as and when they need support.
Applying For A Job
Do I need previous experience to apply?
Yes – we require all applicants to have at least 3 months experience working or volunteering in a SEN/SEND school.
What qualifications do I need?
No formal qualifications are required. However, any background in care, special needs, or education may help your application. The most important qualities are patience, empathy, and reliability.
How do I apply?
Applying is quick and simple! Just complete one of our forms, and our team will be in touch to discuss the next steps.
What happens after I apply?
Once you submit your application, we’ll:
1️. Review your application and experience
2️. Arrange an interview – this will either be online or at our office in Pudsey
3️. Guide you through the required checks and training
4️. Match you with available shifts in your area
Pay & Benefits
How often do I get paid?
We offer FREE next-day payment, so you’ll never have to wait weeks to receive your earnings.
Do I get holiday pay?
Yes! As an ASENEA staff member, you will accrue holiday pay on top of your regular earnings.
Do you provide training?
Yes, we offer FREE, annually updated training to ensure you have the skills and confidence needed for the role.
Shifts & Flexibility
Can I choose my shifts?
Yes! When a shift becomes available, we will offer it to you. If you’re not available for that shift, you can just turn it down!
Where will I be working?
No, there is no fixed commitment. You can work as much or as little as you like based on your availability.
Can I work around another job?
Yes! Many of our team members take on shifts around other jobs, studies, or family commitments.
Background Checks & Requirements
Do I need a DBS check?
Yes, since this role involves working with vulnerable groups, all staff must have an Enhanced DBS check.
If you don’t have a DBS check, we can help you apply for one.
Already got a DBS check? That’s great! For us to be able to accept it, it will need to have included a check of both the Vulnerable Adults and Children Barred List checks, and be on the Update Service.
What other checks do you carry out?
Alongside a DBS check, we verify your right to work in the UK and conduct reference checks before placing you in a school.
Do I need a driving licence?
No, a driving licence is not required, but having your own transport may help with travel to schools.
